PerfectSeal Kaolin Hemostatic Products provide a bleeding control system that addresses bleeding scenarios from abrasions to traumatic injuries. Its proprietary hemostatic technology consists of a non-woven material impregnated with kaolin, an inorganic mineral. When kaolin contacts blood it activates Factor XII,1 which accelerates the body's natural clotting cascade.
This bleeding control solution creates a robust clot to control bleeding fast potentially giving you more time to attend to other tasks as you move patients through the continuum of care.
The PerfectSeal Bleeding Control System offers hemostatic products that can be used to control bleeding in trauma, prehospital, and hospital settings. This technology has a long history of success.
It started being used in the trauma on the battlefield and has been the Department of Defense hemostatic dressing of choice since 2008.5, 20 Over the years, the use of the Kaolin technology has expanded into Law Enforcement, EMS & Fire Rescue, and the Hospital settings. For Faster Bleeding Control.
PerfectSeal kaolin hemostatic gauze is indicated for temporary control of internal organ space bleeding for patients displaying severe bleeding (class III or class IV). It may also be used for the control of severely bleeding wounds such as surgical wounds and traumatic injuries.
Clinical Trials
For the 30-minute PerfectSeal group, the PerfectSeal Radial pad was secured to the wrist at the sheath entrance site with the supplied wrap-around elastic bandage with the sheath still in place (Figures 2A, 2B, 2C).
The sheath was then pulled and a small amount of blood was allowed to soak the underside of the PerfectSeal Radial pad to initiate the kaolin-blood reaction (Figures 2D, 2E).
Manual pressure was then held to the PerfectSeal Radial pad for 5 minutes to obtain hemostasis (Figure 2F). There was an additional 25 minutes of pressure solely with the previously placed elastic wrap around the bandage (Figure 2D).
The elastic bandage was then removed, leaving the PerfectSeal Radial pad undisturbed over the puncture site. The PerfectSeal Radial pad was then covered with a clear adhesive non-compressive film dressing, to be removed the following morning by the patient.
For the 60-minute PerfectSeal group, the procedure was the same as in the 30-minute group, except the wrap around the elastic bandage was left in place for 55 minutes after the 5 minutes of manual compression.
